In order for your application to be considered complete, you must submit the following application materials:

  1. Online Application As part of the online application you will be prompted to upload your transcripts, essay and resume. 
  2. Transcript(s): Please provide transcripts from all institutions attended (unofficial are acceptable)
  3. Essay: Write 500-600 words about why you think this program will help further academic and/or professional goals. 
  4. Resume: Upload your current resume as a Word or PDF document
  5. One academic letter of recommendationwritten by a college professor (please ask your professor to write this on official school letterhead). Please send letters of recommendation to [email protected]
  6. Application Fee: Mail a $45 check or money order made payable to The George Washington University to: Semester in Washington Politics Program, 805 21st Street, NW, Washington, DC 20052
  7. International applicants only: Official TOEFL and/or IELTS score report (if your country's official language is English, a TOEFL or IELTS score report is not required)

Application Tips

  • Applications are considered on a rolling basis up to posted deadlines.
  • Please note that all application materials must be received no later than the application deadline.
  • Students are encouraged to apply early.
