How to Apply for SIWP

All applicants must complete an online application. When you first create your application choose the correct program information to make sure your application is correctly routed according to these instructions. You will not be able to submit the application without all sections completed.

  • Sign up for an account
  • Your application will appear along the left panel and will show a percentage complete and esitmated time to completion

Create an Application

  • To start your application, you must select program type, school, field of study, degree, concentration and term.  Fill in as follows:
    • What type of program are you applying to? Non-Degree
    • School: Summer & Non-Degree Programs
    • Field of Study: Semester in Washington Politics
    • Degree: Non-Degree
    • Concentration: Not Applicable
    • Term: Spring 2020
  • The left panel contains a navigation bar that will show which sections need to be completed. Blank circles have not been started, partially filled orange circles are in progress, and green filled circles are complete.

Checklist of Required Materials

  • Submit a complete online application, including resume, Statement of Purpose, and transcript(s)
  • Contact information for one academic letter of recommendation
  • An application fee of $45

Transcripts

You must provide transcripts from all colleges and universities attended, whether or not credit was earned, the program was completed, or the credit appears as transfer credit on another transcript.  Click the "cloud upload" icon to open a navigation window; select the file you would like to upload and click "Open."  A status bar will show completeness of the upload.  To remove the file, click the red dash to the right of the file name.

Resume

You must submit your resume.  Click the "cloud upload" icon to open a navigation window; select the file you would like to upload and click "Open."  A status bar will show completeness of the upload.  To remove the file, click the red dash to the right of the file name.

Statement of Purpose

You must submit an essay answering the question: Why you think this program will help further your academic and/or professional goals (500-600 words). Click the "cloud upload" icon to open a navigation window; select the file you would like to upload and click "Open."  A status bar will show completeness of the upload.  To remove the file, click the red dash to the right of the file name.

Recommendation Letter

You must request a letter of recommendation from one of your professors.  Include your professor's name and email in your application.  An e-mail will be sent to your professor with instructions on how to upload their letter of recommendation via the online portal.  Please follow up with your professor to ensure they submit your recommendation, completing your application.

Application Fee

A one-time, $45 application fee is required to process your application.
